Submit Manuscript

Liquid Chromatography and Gas Chromatography, North America welcomes original scholarly manuscripts in chromatography, separation science, analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, sample preparation, method development, analytical instrumentation, and related laboratory sciences.

Authors are invited to submit original research articles, review articles, technical studies, methodological papers, case studies, short communications, and application-focused studies that fall within the aims and scope of the journal.

Submission Method

Manuscripts should be submitted by email to the editorial office: lcgcnam@technicalreport.org

Authors are requested to use a clear subject line when submitting a manuscript. A recommended subject line is: Manuscript Submission – [Short Title of Manuscript]

The submission email should include the manuscript file and all supporting documents required for editorial assessment and peer review.

Accepted File Formats

The journal accepts manuscripts in standard academic formats. Authors may submit manuscripts in:

  • Microsoft Word format: .doc or .docx

  • LaTeX format: .tex, together with a compiled PDF and all required source files

Authors submitting LaTeX manuscripts should include the main .tex file, bibliography file if applicable, figures, tables, style files, and a compiled PDF version for review.

At the initial submission stage, authors are not required to use a strict journal template. However, the manuscript should be complete, clearly organized, consistently formatted, and suitable for academic review.

Manuscript Types

The journal considers the following types of submissions:

  • Original research articles

  • Review articles

  • Technical studies

  • Methodological papers

  • Case studies

  • Short communications

  • Application-focused studies

  • Laboratory practice and method-development papers

All manuscripts should present clear scientific value, reliable methodology, appropriate analysis, and relevance to chromatography, separation science, or analytical chemistry.

Manuscript Preparation

A complete manuscript should normally include:

  • Title of the manuscript

  • Full names of all authors

  • Author affiliations

  • Corresponding author email address

  • Abstract

  • Keywords

  • Main text

  • Figures and tables, where applicable

  • References

  • Funding statement

  • Conflict of interest statement

  • Ethical approval statement, where applicable

  • Data availability statement, where applicable

  • Supplementary material, where applicable

The manuscript should be written in clear academic English. Authors should ensure that the text is understandable, scientifically accurate, and carefully checked before submission.

Title Page

The title page should include the full manuscript title, author names, affiliations, and the contact details of the corresponding author. Authors may also include ORCID iDs, acknowledgements, funding information, and author contribution details where applicable.

The title should be concise, informative, and directly related to the content of the manuscript.

Abstract and Keywords

Each manuscript should include an abstract that summarizes the purpose, methods, main findings, and significance of the work. The abstract should be clear and understandable without reference to the full article.

Authors should provide suitable keywords that represent the main subject of the manuscript. Keywords may include terms such as liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, LC–MS, GC–MS, sample preparation, method validation, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, environmental analysis, food analysis, forensic analysis, or related terms.

Figures and Tables

Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively and cited in the manuscript text. Each figure and table should include a clear caption or title.

Authors should ensure that figures, chromatograms, spectra, calibration plots, diagrams, and other visual materials are clear and of sufficient quality for review and publication. Where figures or tables are reproduced or adapted from another source, proper permission and citation must be provided.

References

References should be complete, accurate, and consistently formatted. Every source cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and every item in the reference list must be cited in the manuscript.

At the initial submission stage, authors may use any standard academic reference style, provided it is applied consistently. After acceptance, the editorial office may request formatting adjustments according to journal style.

Cover Letter

Authors are encouraged to include a cover letter with their submission. The cover letter should briefly state:

  • The title of the manuscript

  • The article type

  • The importance and originality of the work

  • Confirmation that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere

  • Confirmation that all authors have approved the submission

  • Any relevant ethical, funding, or conflict of interest information

Required Declarations

Authors should include the following statements where applicable:

Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the work. If there is no conflict of interest, authors may state: “The author(s) declare no conflict of interest.”

Funding: Authors should disclose all sources of financial support. If no funding was received, authors may state: “This research received no external funding.”

Ethical Approval: Studies involving human participants, clinical samples, animals, private data, or regulated materials should include an ethical approval statement where required.

Data Availability: Authors should state whether the data supporting the findings are available, restricted, included in the manuscript, available upon request, or not applicable.

Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts first undergo an initial editorial check, normally completed within 7 days of submission. During this stage, the editorial office checks the manuscript for completeness, relevance to the aims and scope, basic academic quality, ethical declarations, and suitability for peer review.

Manuscripts that pass the initial check are sent for peer review. The journal requires a minimum of two independent reviewers for manuscripts considered for external review.

The peer-review process is normally completed within 3 months, depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, revision requirements, and editorial assessment.

Editorial Decisions

After editorial and peer-review evaluation, authors may receive one of the following decisions:

  • Accept

  • Minor revision

  • Major revision

  • Revise and resubmit

  • Reject

If revision is requested, authors should submit a revised manuscript together with a detailed response letter explaining how each reviewer and editor comment has been addressed.

Open Access and Publication Charges

Liquid Chromatography and Gas Chromatography, North America is a diamond open access journal. Authors are not required to pay article processing charges, submission fees, peer-review fees, acceptance fees, publication fees, page charges, figure charges, DOI registration fees, or online access fees.

All accepted articles are published online without financial barriers for authors or readers.

Copyright and License

Authors retain copyright of their published work. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, which permits reading, downloading, sharing, distribution, adaptation, and reuse in any medium or format, provided that proper credit is given to the original author(s), article, and journal.

Submission Checklist

Before submission, authors should confirm that:

  • The manuscript fits the aims and scope of the journal.

  • The work is original and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • The manuscript is prepared in Word or LaTeX format.

  • The title page includes author names, affiliations, and corresponding author details.

  • The abstract and keywords are included.

  • All figures and tables are cited in the text.

  • References are complete and consistent.

  • Required ethical, funding, conflict of interest, and data availability statements are included.

  • Permission has been obtained for third-party material where required.

  • All authors have approved the final version for submission.
