Diamond Open Access Policy

Technical Report Press (TRP) is a diamond open access publisher. Under this model, all articles published by TRP are made immediately and permanently available online to readers worldwide without subscription charges, paywalls, or registration requirements. Authors are likewise able to publish their accepted work without paying article processing charges (APCs), submission fees, or publication fees.

TRP is committed to supporting equitable access to scholarly knowledge by removing both reader-side and author-side financial barriers. This policy reflects TRP’s commitment to the widest possible dissemination, use, and preservation of scholarly research.

Open Access at TRP

When an article is published by TRP, the following principles apply:

  • Free access for all readers: The full text of every published article is freely accessible online. Readers may read, download, copy, share, and distribute the published work without cost.
  • Reuse with proper attribution: Published content may be reused, adapted, translated, redistributed, or incorporated into other works, provided that the original article is properly cited, appropriate credit is given to the author(s) and publisher, and any changes made to the original work are clearly indicated.
  • No author fees: TRP does not charge authors submission fees, article processing charges, publication fees, or mandatory open access fees. The diamond open access model is supported through publisher resources, institutional cooperation, and relevant partnerships, while maintaining full editorial independence.

Licensing

Unless otherwise stated by an individual journal or article, TRP publishes articles under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, users are permitted to copy, distribute, display, adapt, translate, and reuse published content in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes, provided that:

  • the original author(s) are properly credited;
  • the original article is correctly cited;
  • a link to the license is provided; and
  • any changes, adaptations, or modifications are clearly indicated.

The CC BY 4.0 license is intended to promote broad scholarly communication while preserving proper attribution to the original authors and source of publication.

Permissions and Reuse

Because TRP publishes content under open licenses, users generally do not need to request additional permission to reuse TRP-published material, including figures and tables, provided that the reuse complies with the applicable license terms.

Users should ensure that they:

  • cite the original article accurately;
  • credit the author(s) and TRP as the original publisher;
  • include a link to the applicable Creative Commons license; and
  • indicate whether any modifications, translations, or adaptations have been made.

Reuse of TRP content does not imply endorsement by TRP, the journal editors, editorial board members, reviewers, or the original author(s).

Self-Archiving and Repository Deposit

TRP supports the broad dissemination and long-term preservation of scholarly work. Authors are encouraged to deposit and share their work in institutional repositories, subject repositories, preprint servers, personal websites, laboratory websites, academic networking platforms, and other appropriate scholarly repositories.

TRP permits the sharing and archiving of all manuscript versions, including:

  • the submitted manuscript;
  • the accepted manuscript; and
  • the published version of record.

Authors may deposit these versions without requesting additional permission from TRP, provided that appropriate citation details are included where available.

No Embargo Policy

TRP does not impose embargo periods. Articles are made openly available immediately upon publication. Authors may also deposit and share their work without delay, in accordance with the applicable open access license and repository policies.

Third-Party Content

Some articles may contain images, figures, tables, excerpts, datasets, or other materials that are not owned by the author(s) or TRP. Such third-party content may not be covered by the article’s Creative Commons license unless explicitly stated.

Users who wish to reuse third-party material should carefully review figure captions, table notes, credit lines, and rights statements. Where necessary, permission must be obtained directly from the original copyright holder.

Authors are responsible for securing permission to reproduce third-party material in their submitted manuscripts and for clearly identifying any material that is excluded from the article’s open access license.

Rationale for Diamond Open Access

TRP supports diamond open access because it enhances the visibility, accessibility, and societal value of scholarly research. By removing financial barriers for both readers and authors, TRP promotes a more inclusive and equitable publishing environment.

This model supports the global exchange of knowledge across disciplines, institutions, and regions, particularly for researchers, students, practitioners, and institutions that may have limited access to subscription-based resources or limited funding for publication fees.

Through its diamond open access policy, TRP aims to advance responsible scholarly communication, strengthen research dissemination, and contribute to the long-term accessibility of academic knowledge.
